Superior Quartz Products, Inc. manufactures quality short arc lamps
to the graphic arts, photochemistry, medical, electro optics, search light, stage
and studio projection lighting, optical instrumentation, solar simulation, military
guidance, and fiber optic illumination industries. Offered are a wide range of short
arc lamps, also known as compact arc lamps, with power levels ranging from 150 watts
to 10,000 watts in an air cooled xenon or mercury xenon configuration and from 12,000
to 32,000 watts in a liquid cooled xenon configuration. Superior Quartz Products'
short arc lamps produce a highly stable uniform arc in the ultraviolet, visible and
infrared spectral ranges. With an arc length ranging from less than a millimeter to
approximately a centimeter, these high-pressure gas discharge lamps provide the
highest luminance and radiance of any continuously operated light source. Precisely
formed into a spherical or ellipsoidal shape, the short arc lamps are manufactured in
either ozone producing or ozone free quartz. The ozone free quartz blocks wavelengths
below 254 nanometers. Due to the required arc stability and uniformity of short arc
lamps, most are designed for DC operation. However, AC short arc lamps can also be
manufactured for special requirements.
